An IKEA sized mystery

If you haven’t seen the photo on the shelf at IKEA then you’ve probably seen it on any number of walls around the world.

It’s not very memorable, you might even call it average, but one crazy Dutch persons interest in the photo takes us on a fascinating little journey starting with a simple photo of Amsterdam and running through New York and the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, uncovering a story much more fascinating the the image itself.

Prepare to be sucked in and maybe even shed a small tear.
